WeatherPorch publishes source-cited comparisons and a free placement tool for home weather stations. We are an independent publication; we are not owned by or affiliated with AcuRite, Ambient Weather, La Crosse Technology, or any other manufacturer named on this site.

Our methodology

• We cite the manufacturer, not a reseller, wherever possible. Every price and spec on this site links to the page it came from, with the date we checked it. Prices change; check the linked page for the current figure before buying.
• We do not claim hands-on testing we have not done. As of launch, none of our comparison pages are based on physical products we have purchased and used. We say this explicitly on every page that compares products, rather than implying a review we have not performed.
• Our Placement Planner tool applies a published standard, not our own opinion. It runs the National Weather Service's own Cooperative Observer Program siting rules against the numbers you enter — the source is linked on the tool page.
• We mark what we don't know. Where a manufacturer page did not state a spec (a wireless range, a warranty length), we say so instead of guessing.

What's next

We plan to purchase and test specific models directly in the future. When we do, we will update the relevant pages to say so explicitly and describe what we actually did.
